What is Biodanza?

Biodanza is a system of human integration, a tool that helps us not only to keep in tune with life but also to rescue our own capacities and human potentials. And this is possible because of the music, the dance and the group.

It was created in Chile in the 1960s by Rolando Toro Araneda (Chile 1924 -2010), teacher, psychologist and a constant researcher of life. He had a  great interest in human sciences -specially biology- and he felt the great need for  people to be in connection with feeling alive.

Biodanza offers an opportunity to improve our quality of life. Inviting us to evoke joy increasing our levels of wellbeing, self-esteem and confidence. The regular practice of Biodanza will develop a better relationship not only with ourselves but with others and our environment.

What happens in a session?

A session lasts approximately 90 minutes. There are between 12 to 14 exercises which stimulate and develop the motor, sensory and affective integration. The music allows the participants to discover their own unique quality of movement which at the same time is having a specific effect in the body. Every dance in Biodanza is an invitation.  We wear comfortable clothes and often people dance in barefoot.

Sessions in both Manchester and Sheffield follow the science-based system proposed by Rolando Toro. In addition we ensure the participants' safety by providing a very progressive way into the system.

The best way to experience Biodanza is to come and try it!
